Who Are You Searching For?

Please list the families you are researching, questions you are trying to answer, and an email where other's can contact you. These families don't have to have connections to Beallsville Cemetery.

Some of the surnames from that area that I am researching are:
Hill, Dorsey, Ruble, Baker, Regester, Sargeant, Wise, and many others. These are the main ones but it seems that there is a connection between the Hill family and almost every other pioneer family from Scenery Hill, Beallsville, Centreville area. I'm hoping we can help each other with our research so post away !!

LEONARD, Caleb Sr. (1726-1814).
I could've sworn the records showed him buried very near his son Caleb Jr. (175-1845), but I now can't locate it.

Hi Rick,
Actually Caleb Leonard Sr's grave is not very close to Caleb Junior. I have a map that was drawn in the 1930 when Caleb Sr's stone was still there. I will post it with an explanation.

I am researching my gggreat grandfather James Nichols who supposedly was born in the Scenery Hill (Hillsborough) area around 1762. His sister Jane married a Hill and he had a brother Erasmus but that is all I know. I have found him on the census in 1800 (I think) in Pike Township. He moved to Kentucky soon after that. He and his wife Rachel are my brick wall. Any ideas?

I am interested in finding information about the Ewart family
of East Bethlehem and Beallsville, Pa.
The father, John Senior, was born in Ireland in 1769. He lived in Pa.
until 1840. I believe his wife's
first name was Jane. She died before
1840.

They had seven children: James,
John, Jr., Sarah, Letitia, Nancy,
Jane Ewart Spindler who died in
1830 and Catherine Ewart Spindler
who died before 1834. These two
sisters were both married to sons
of Nicholas Spindler 1763-1841.

Any information would be most
appreciated. Thank you.

For "Searchingpa": On the Ancestry.com OneWorld Tree,
there is some information about the Simpson family. It says that
Nancy died on 23 Mar 1890 in Dearth,
Pa. in Menallen Township, Fayette Cty
and that she is buried in the M.E.
Cemetery in New Salem, Menallen Township, Fayette County, Pa.

Her son Wesley Hiram married Margaret Staley and they had eleven
children and lived in Greene County,
Pa.

Searching for any information on Samuel (born 1808)and Matilda (Smith)(born 1910) Dotson. They are buried at the Beallsville Cemetery along with other family members. Their daughter Caroline "Carrie" married Samuel Holland and are also buried at the Beallsville Cemetery. Samuel and Matilda possibly lived on a farm just outside of Beallsville. Another daughter Emma married John Guthrie,, and moved to Preston County, West Virginia. Daughter, Sarah who was born in 1849,, nothing more than that is know of her.,

I descend from Samuel Hill b 1793 in Washington County, PA. He married Sarah Ann McGavern 21 May 1818. They had at least 6 children. He moved to Morgan County, Ohio late 1830's. He died 16 Oct 1870 in Morgan County, Ohio. His parents are said to be Samuel and Margaret(nee unknown) Hill of Washington County, PA. Do you know any further information on either of these Samuel Hill's?

I am searching for information about the family of Michael Hill, who was born in Westmoreland in 1804. His father is possibly named John Hill, of Scotch Irish heritage.

I understand there are several Hill Family cemeteries in this area of Washington county, and I'm curious if any of the earlier Hills might be related or share common ancestors.

Thank you so much for putting all this info online!
